Vienna – the self is possessed by the other. Together with the Vienna based choreographer Doris Stelzer two facially paralysed boys did a dance workshop. In a playful way they trained their movement skills and did exercises to improve their body awareness and sensibility.

Vienna – recently I accompanied an eight year old facially paralysed girl during plastic surgery. She had a corrective operation. It was her third surgical intervention within a period of about four years. Everything went well and the girl is already back at home in Switzerland.

Human expression is not only about the moving face. The whole body of a person is involved when s/he expresses her- or himself. During surgery I was wondering of how a part of the hand of the girl – a tendon of her right arm was transplanted into her left mouth corner – suddenly became integrated in her smiling, articulating and talking.
This observation encouraged me to continue my work together with choreographers and movement practitioners within the FEATURES-research with facially paralysed patients and in close collaboration with the plastic and reconstructive surgeon Manfred Frey, who is an expert in this particular medical field: http://www.professor-frey.at/.

New York – doing movement research and video interviews with choreographers in one of the most exhiting cities. Another summer activity in New York City included explorations of the urban landscape of Manhattan together with the visual artist Gerhard Lang.

Berlin – on June 23rd an auditorium of the University Hospital Charité in Berlin offered the stage for an unique experiment that took place in the frame of the 7th Berlin Biennale, curated by the Polish video artist Artur Zmijewski. Christina Lammer invited four physicians to present their works. They gave lecture performances and painted together with the audience. The Viennese gastroenterologist Michael Haefner, for instance, did a big scale painting together with the renowned Polish visual artist Pawel Althamer.
